The World Is So So So Huge . . .

Being doing alot of extensive reading nowadayz (which is taking up most of my time). . partly because i am still "nuahing" at home

Borrow a couple of good books (i think, hee :P) before the CNY and now trying to complete all of them . . . and they are (drum-roll . . . . ) :

- Electric Universe by David Bodanis
- Doing it Right the First Time by Gerard Nierenberg
- Blink, The power of thinking without thinking by Malcolm Gladwell

Ok i just finished electric universe today, it was a good book in my opinion. The author did a great job by making historical facts so enjoyable to read . . it not like in the history textbook where for example . . . in 19XX - blah blah did what what and result in so so so . . Instead he made history a bit "human" in my opinion.

Actually it was quite a twist of fate that i got to know of this book, so this is how it goes . .
On a chilly nite in rockhamptom, down-under . . Me and my frens were doing last min shopping in the local mall where one of them saw this book and bought it since it was going for so cheap over there but then i wasn't too interested in it . .

Later on i did managed to read this book again on a bus 855 while heading home coz the same fren accidentally left this book with me . . LoLz, but due to the fact that i had to return it . . i did not managed to complete reading it . . but after reading it, i kinda liked it . . But duno why the idea of borrowing it from my fren to read just kinda slipped out of my head . .

Yet fate works in a strangest way, for the first time after like almost 10 years of not going to the library, i found the book the moment i set my eyes on a particular shelf (PS: the librarian laugh at me for not "patronizing" them for a long time . . she said:" Wow, Mr. Tan, you haven't been coming to the library for a long time" or something like that . . LoLz)

Well once i started reading, i can't stop. Guess that's what you call when you found a good book you just can't put it down . . . Apart from the time i spend on watching anime, variety shows, gaming, eating etc . . the rest of my time was devoted to this book.

Through this book i have known some unknown facts that historial textbooks doesn't tell you. Its basically a book on how the discovery of electricity lead to a technological advancement and eventually the next step into the information age as we all now are in . . . everything was at a stand still . . and suddenly it just exploded when Volta discovered electricity when he sandwich his tongue between metal pieces of zinc and copper, and from there . . new fields of studies in electricity, new gadgets inventions, improvement in every aspect of human lives . . the first, telegraphs, radar, electromagnets, computers . . the list just goes on and on.

I would really like to go on ith a section of "did you know that . . . " . . coz there is so much in the book that i didn't know . . thus the title of this particular post. In order not to spoil it for any potential readers out there, i hope there are some out there, hee (^-^) i will keep the review as it is now and end the review here . .

Now I am starting on the second book, hopefully i don't have to extend my library book's loan date again . . LoLz

Ok, some updates on myself then . . Haha, had a change in hairstyle recently for chinese new year thanks to my sis . . well since u all know i have dreaded this curly hair of mine (PS: if u didn't know then, now you know, hee . . ) . . my sis got hold of a supposing what was a hair straightening cream and i decided to have a go at it . . the end result was quite statisfying :) . . my hair was straight momentarily in my life for the first time in 25 years, hahaha . . even took a pic to commenmorate that day . . . LoLz

Hmm . . . i think i side-tracked a bit from the title . .

Ok, back to my "philosophical" me . . . LoLz

Kinda dawned on me while reading the book on how ignorant i still am . . but deeper inside, i'm feeling like a new me coming out suddenly, i mean in the past i think i will not even think about going to the library or reading up on anything except comics, but somehow in the last fews months there has been a surge to find something to do with my life, something meaningful . . maybe its because finally i am no longer in the sheltered environment anymore but . . . . i must give credits to this book called "Your Worst Enemy" u guys must seriously go read it, i guess this book has one way or another made me realise something about myself . .

This book is the only book i have read like 3 times. (PS: Omg, i didn't even believe i could do this 3 times . . guess this shows how good a book is ). . i even took notes from the books, some things they mention in the book is so plainly simple, yet so truthful, so straightforward and so enlightening maybe ??

The world is so huge out there . . so much to do and learn, your lifetime is limited yet there are a million and one things out there to know about and experience, kinda sets u pondering on what u want to do with your life doesn't it ?? Ok, so much for that "chiem chiem" stuffs, sorry if i bored u a little :P

Oh ya, last saturday was having this annual gathering of all the familes and kids my mum used to babysit . . Had Steamboat that night and man i was stuffed . . But must not do it too often . . will get fat easily . . . How ironic that the effort to lose weight is always inversely proportional to the ability to gain weight . . LoLz

ok now its time for my all-time favourite quote:

Oh ya, i am still waiting for my company to call me up . .

Oh ya, would like to share a piece of good news . . Chartered Semiconductor has called me today tell me that they are working out a employment package for me and most probably it would be ready come earliest this week or next week . . thou i would prefer next week, after the CNY would be the best :) . . Let me re-charge and then its 冲冲冲 。 。 All the way !!!


Heard that i would start off with equipment engineer and after 0.5 yr i would proceed to performance analysis or was it failure analysis . . Sounds Kinda good considering i really like job that have rotation in job scopes for their employees . . Hee \(^-^)/


Can u believe this, i actually made a new fren online today while playing online game . . . He's from US . . and he knows me by the name of "Lycan99"" while i know him by the name of "Eric9098" . . Kinda hit off since we both liked Bleach . . LoLz


Suddenly remember this bunch of friends i came to know when i was playing this game a couple years back .. that bunch was from phillipines . . i think there was 2-3 of them . .
Used to party them everytime we were online . . . LoLz . .
Wonder will i get the chance to find them in the game ever again ???


I shouldnt have used a bogus email for registration the other time round, and due to security update on the host side, my account was consider gone . . Haiz . . DUmb me :(

A Week Of Expectations Ahead . . .

This is actually my 3rd time writing this particular entry . . a bit turned off actually
. . . . . . . . .

Well . . because while i was writing this entry previously, i got this message saying something like can't connect up to blogger main server and all written data could not be posted nor could it be saved . . yes for both time it happened to me on the same day . . Darnnn . .

Man i was pissed off . . now i am just praying that this doesn't happened while i am typing this for the 3rd time . . haiz.

Ok, lets have some updates of the week, oh look at the time (past mid-nite) . .

Black black Monday . .
Got a deep gnash on the big toe (i duno what name u give for toes) from doing some spring cleaning for my mum . . guess i am the only person in this part of earth that can get injured from doing spring cleaning . . . Well becasue of this i can't joggin this week . . the reason is kinda obvious huh?
Ouch Ouch Ouch. . . . . .
<---- Down On My Luck :( In the night couldn't even sleep in peace cause i would be awaken from the momentary sharp shock of pain when my toe hits something . . think i woke up a couple of time . . . Arrgh, i hate it when i don't get a good nite's uninterrupted sleep . . . .

Tuesday . .
Nothing happened much, decided to pick up "GO" again (or you might know it as weiqi) . . considering i stopped sometime back . . Was kinda influence by this Anime & Manga called "Hikaru No Go" sometime back . . about how this kid picked up GO . . Who says anime is non-beneficial to one, it all depends on what u draw from it . . Haha.

PS: Now i remember what i stopped the other time round, hahaha

Oh ya, 2 piece of good news, Chartered Semiconductors called me up for an interview for the position of Equipment Engineer, Hurray . . Finally i am getting somewhere . . Hee :)
Interview scheduled on Thursday, 5pm.

Another one would definitely have to be that, George Gillet and Tom Hicks have successfully took over Liverpool FC from David Moores and they would be giving Rafa a hefty amount of cash for next seasons transfer market . . . .
OOOhhhh . . the future suddenly looks soOooo SoooOOoo bright now . .

Please get Villa, The german left winger whose name i duno how to spell :P and Daniel Alves please, i am begging you . .

Wednesday . .
Continued studying "GO" . . . now all i need is a player and some guidances for the actual game, Hee, any volunteers?? . .

. . . . . OMG, all this job seeking is having its impact on me . . LoLz. Oh ya, did some homework on Chartered Semiconductors as well . . . Praying that tmr's interview will go smoothly for me :)

THursday . .
Ding Ding Ding . . ROund 1 of interview Today !!! THink it went pretty well with the boss, we didn't have a too technical interview, it was more of a get to know you session . . Duno how i fared, but boss (i am already calling him boss already . . Hahaha) said he would speak to HR and they would most probably inform me in the next 5 days or so . . Was really happy when he said that my job scope might require me to go overseas for training . . Yippee
. . I don't have to pay and on top of that, i am relinquishing the chance to travel around and i don't mean in the local areas . . .

But (strange enough there is always a but . . Hee) . . . i suffered new wounds (blisters) and aggrevated that nasty gnash on the toe. Because had to wear all formal and stuff for the interview mah . . . Haiz should have worn the other older pair . . Drats . . .

Friday . .
Didnt do much considering i cant go any where with the condition of my feet, so i took the easy way out and nursed my bruised foot . . Hee :)
But still did some cleaning here and there . . Crap, so fast gather dust liao . . . Arrghh.

Thinking of doing a auto-cad drawing of my proposed room layout on the pretext that if my mum allows me to dump something in my room first . . Will show u all when i get the time to do it over the weekend . .

Toe is finally starting to heal, think can start my joggin regime in the coming days, have to prepare for the feasting awaiting me since CNY is SooOOoo SoooOOO close now, i can smell it already . .
. . . Food Food Glorious Food, Bak Kwa, Pineapple Tarts . . . Drool Drool . . Hee.
Lastly . . The Best News Ever . . The long awaited Filler Episodes for Naruto Is officially over, come next episode we would be seeing the grown up version of Naruto and Also bleach is into the original story too . . . Thank goodness its finally over.

( I see alot of people nodding their head in agreement with me . . Hee . . )


Wahh . . Look at the time, So late . . in addition, i am in semi-concious state now, actually wanted to show a funny thing i read somewhere . . but i'll keep it to the next post . .

Boring Boring Friday :(

Haha, kinda bored at home with nothing to do again since i have completed my spring cleaning (thank goodness its finally over, hehehe) . .


The only thing i have done which is more significant is to do research on how to perfect gundam modelling for the entire of this week . . Everyday spend about 2-3 hours ba.

Looking thru youtube to look for videos on how the pro do it back in japan :) as well as online tutorials . .

How i was amazed at the time and effort they put in to making their models . . and looking back at my own . . . well a bit ashamed to said that mine was pale in comparison, very pale . . Hee :)

All the Mr. Surfacer, Mr. Cement, Air Brush and model decals and stuff . . . Wahh, goes to show how much knowledge i still lack in this area . . Have to absorb all this knowledge and techniques used if i want to progress to the next level . . HaizZz (More Homework To Do) . .

But looking at them doing their work with such devotion . . I wonder how long it has been since i have been that serious about a particular stuff . . Hmm, i wonder . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Can't recall . . Hahaha (^-^)

Well i have placed an order for 1/100 MG Strike Gundam IWSP . . with a good fren who is returning back to taiwan for his CNY, hope that he can get it for me . . . Haha.

Most Prob will post a pic here when i am done with it on a pretext if he can get it for me from taiwan. Pray Pray Pray . . Hee

I have added a new feature to this dull blog of mine, a music player that host a list of songs i like from the past till now. Only regret is the list aint complete considering i got lazy from adding the songs in . . Haha, its over at the right bottom corner the blue ipod . . A target that i am still working towards to . . .
